Input needed, if anyone has some to offer. Much thanks in advance.
(Sunrico, we'd love to be where you are but there is no work there for the spouse.)
We have to leave our tiny northwest Florida town.
These are the places we are looking at:

Tallahassee, Florida

Amelia Island, Florida

Hilton Head/Bluffton, South Carolina

Charleston, South Carolina

We will be emptynesters next fall. We love the beach and water activities.
A community pool would be nice.
I would enjoy being near a bit of culture. We've managed to stay healthy in our town that has minimal healthcare but we're 50ish and I'd like to be in a community where you don't drive 45 minutes to any sort of specialized health treatment. Also would like to be in a place where "organic" is not a dirty word and there are food choices other than fried. These things are *coming* to our current community, but it is slo-ow going. There is one grocery store in town.
We'd be looking for a house in the 2,000 sq foot range. Not crazy about gated communities but would not completely dismiss the idea, it depends on the place.

If you go down to the fact file N. Charleston was rated #20 as most dangerous.
