And folks from the mountains (I-26 is a straight shot from Asheville to Charleston). And even folks from the Triad visit Myrtle. Overall, I'd say the western half of NC is more prone to visit SC beaches, which is a lot of people.

The Triad and the Triangle are kind of in the same boat, folks from both metros usually stick with Myrtle or NC beaches. Occasionally, you'll hear mention of Charleston or Hilton Head but it's not as common. Like I've mentioned before, you never hear mention of Virginia Beach but I know many Virginians (along with folks from the DC area, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey) who vacation on the Outer Banks.
