Seems pretty clear they identify as "Mid Atlantic" down there.
That's an interesting Pusha T would bring that up. Traditionally in Hip-Hop, anything south of Washington DC was considered the part of Southern hip-hop.

Well, traditionally, Washington, DC never had hip hop (they were about Go-Go), so anything south of Philadelphia was considered Southern Hip Hop. But times have changed. We can't keep living in the past. Hampton Roads has nothing in common with places like Jacksonville, New Orleans, Houston, etc. It looks more like New England than any of those places.

But DC and Baltimore are southern. Baltimore is more southern than any of then because people aren't migrating here from other areas of the country. I'm still trying to convince my GF, who's from Augusta, GA, that she's still in the south.

Pennsylvania has a lot of cultural connections to North Carolina.

Virginia is obviously very tied into the Philadelphia area. And the Baltimore dialect, as well as other dialects in Maryland, have Tidewater influences.
Are you being serious or are you trying to use reverse psychology to fool the masses yet again?

Mid-Atlantic architecture. This is nothing like Atlanta.

Virginia is also tied into DC, Philly, NYC and Boston through the Northeast Regional.

Boston - Providence / Springfield - Hartford - New York - Washington, DC - Lynchburg / Richmond - Petersburg - Norfolk / Newport News - Virginia Beach
Northeast Regional Train - Boston, NYC, DC, Richmond, Virginia Beach, Norfolk | Amtrak

Yes, they were historically southern. Now they are Mid-Atlantic along with Virginia. Numerous primary and secondary sources confirm this.

Besides, there's no point in arguing against history. Virginia is one of the Middle Atlantic States. It's a fact.

The sources speak louder than random opinions.

Mid Atlantic is a sub-region that stretches from north to south Atlantic states. The Mason- Dixon is where the south begins. Anything south and west of that line is in no way Northeastern.

We're not talking about "Northeastern." Where do you see "northeastern" anywhere in the title of the thread?

We're talking about the Mid-Atlantic. And yes, Virginia is the Mid-Atlantic. There are a bazillion sources confirming this.

Now the Northeast = New England + Mid Atlantic. Just sayin....
