Do some regions carry more prestige than others? Which regions carry the most prestige and which carry the least?

How broad of an area are you looking for and what's your definition of prestigious? If you're going on concentrations of wealth then you get areas like The Hamptons, Martha's Vineyard, and Aspen, for example.

Just to make it easy, let's use the Census regions: Northeast, South, Midwest and West.

I don't consider any region of the US more or less "prestigious." I DO consider some areas and some cities more or less PRETENTIOUS however.

I do believe this was discussed in about 20 other threads the past couple of months.

Simple answer......No! There is no region that is anymore prestigious than another. Of course to some people their region is the most prestigious, because ignorant people have to feel superior to others to make themselves feel better. Sad but true. These people need help.

Reading your post, I feel sure that you falsely think that your region of the country is the most prestigious. Sorry to burst your bubble.

At the very least, they need to back away from the computer and get out more.

One thing that always strikes me when I travel, is just how many different and beautiful regions of the US there are - there are positives about every single state and region (and country, for that matter), and friendly people are EVERYWHERE. And I LOVE the idiosyncracies of different regions and cultures. I would hate for everyone to look and act and live in the same general manner. What a boring place the world would be.
