I would stand. However, the fast-paced, dynamic, go-getting northeastern lifestyle in Maryland just keeps me running, don't ya know.

Oh, NJ can multitask - stand while balancing this fast paced lifestyle. I guess apparent newcomer to the NE, Maryland, can't balance it all.

And Virginia. They are Mid Atlantic too. The Northeast = New England + Middle Atlantic.

Are you being facetious, because you were arguing in another thread not too long ago that MD, let alone VA, is not northeastern?

He's inconsistent at best. Just five minutes earlier in another thread he said Mid-Atlantic isn't north or south, but a combination. Now it's solidly northeast?

No, I'm not being facetious.

Everybody keeps saying the definition of the Northeast is "New England + Mid Atlantic." If that's true, and Virginia is the Mid Atlantic (which it undoubtedly is), then Virginia is also part of the Northeast, albeit the "Lower Northeast," if you will.

Logic dictates that result, no?

I said that the Mid Atlantic is culturally a combination of North and South. But the entire region--Mid Atlantic and New England--is called the "Northeast." Personally, I think Mid Atlantic is a better descriptor of the culture that runs from Norfolk up to NYC. HR's connections to DC and Baltimore are palpable.

Well with this logic, VA would be Northeastern. Because if Maryland is NE, then why is Virgina NOT?

People claim DC is a Northeastern city, and both Maryland and Virginia gave up land to make DC, so therefore VA is also Northeast. Considering that VA is WEST of MD, not South of it.

Actually the land VA gave to make DC is no longer DC since the civil war. What is now Arlington was once part of Virginias land that was given to DC. I also find the claim that VA is not south of MD rather dubious.
