Of the places I have been to, I was actually a bit surprised. I liked LA more than people told me I would (the anti-LA bias is still alive and well):

1. Santa Barbara, CA
2. Boston, MA
3. Philadelphia, PA
4. New Orleans, LA
5. Statten Island, NY

St. John, US Virgin Islands in a villa: a secluded paradise.
Manhattan penthouse: for the culture and energy.
New Orleans: either in the Quarter or the Garden District.
Atlanta: a bungalow in Midtown.
San Diego on the beach.

I haven't seen nearly enough places in the US to decide that, but I guess since we're playing a game I'll give it a shot.

Five places in the U.S. -

1) A penthouse apartment in NYC with a skyscraper view OR.... a really nice apartment overlooking Central Park

2) A house in Seattle

3) A house in Wisconsin or Eastern Minnesota

4) A house in California

5) A house in New England (Vermont or Massachusetts)

And I'd buy my mom a house anywhere in the country she wanted to live.
