That seems like something that would be impossible to gauge. Not that it isn't the case with Florida, but I would be skeptical of any numbers.

Mostly, I thought his comment about people staying "forever" in those other states, to be funny. As if people don't move away from those states.

Its more than a year since the 2013 estimate. I understand they are only estimates, but they might be pretty close.
Using the numbers from wikipedia and playing with them a bit, I got this.

The average growth rate over the past three years for each state.

NY .4674567% per year
FL 1.3150726% per year

Using this with the 2013 population estimate to come up with a 2014 guesstimate gives

FL 19,809,994
NY 19,742988

Save your arguments, I know this isn't how reality works. It is just for fun.

I voted Florida is now larger than New York.

Interesting. Thanks for doing the math.

I don't why you keep posting this stat even though it has been proven not to be true. Again, the number of people moving out of Florida is 70% of the number of people moving into Florida. But it's not necessarily the same people. It's more likely a combination of new residents and native Floridians moving out of Florida.

There's a chance. Probably not definitive until the end of the next winter unless New York state outside of NYC and its environs makes a drastic turnaround.

It will not be long before south Florida and California is like the north east. So many people move to California and south Florida ( think it cheaper and better life) and find it hard to find jobs and cost living going up every year. No wonder so many people moving to Phoenix or Texas.

If you are rich my all means move to south Florida or California. But do not think you are going to get $200 or $300 dollar home unless you in want to live in the ghetto.

It is people who think well the cost of living is so high and a million dollar home in New York will get you small ghetto home and well out in suburbs of north east will get you $400,00 to $600,000 small home.

People want to cash out on sun belt cities of $50,000 to $200,000 homes and say WOW that move to sun belt cities than get in south Florida and California and have hard time finding jobs and housing price is not $50,000 to $200,000 died long ago.

No wonder they are miserable. And leave south Florida and California after 5 years.
