Lately my friends are basically making fun of me for virtually any place that I consider living in. Whether it's Philly, CT, or the Midwest, or whatever. They all have reasons such as "it's ghetto," or "it's boring," or "it's culture shock."
Have YOU ever been made fun of by others based on your desired place of choice to live in? How do you cope with this?

Neither do I. When I left Massachusetts, one of my co-workers said "Good luck in Mexico City!" Another acquaintance said "Don't make a wrong turn in Albuquerque or you might end up becoming a drug mule." You know, people who have no idea what they are talking about. Seriously who cares about what they think? It hasn't hindered my success out here one bit.

I was "that damn Yankee" when I moved to the South as a teenager, and I wasn't even the stereotypical overbearing person from the North either. It didn't help that I was from a city that the United States basically threw away during my childhood.
Not really. I don't know anyone from where I live that wouldn't want to spend at least a little bit of time in Colorado. My other choice would be Maryland and even then a lot of my friends would want to live a little closer to the ocean.
When I told a few of my friends in SoCal I was moving to Seattle, they said "I'm sorry". Why would you be sorry for a choice that I'm making? It may be because I look young for my age so they assumed I was being dragged here by my parents.
I also got people saying things "but it's rainy and cold", yeah, maybe that's why I like it. Ever think of that?
My family looked at me like I had 5 heads when I told them I was considering job offers in Atlanta, Charlotte, and Phoenix. But no one really made fun of me.
