Now I know everyone is different etc. but to generalize, I currently live in southern Indiana and on the whole everyone in my town is very extraverted, cliquey, conservative and materialistic. I am looking for a place completely different as I don't fit in with these types of people

I am quite shy, an introvert, friendly, reserved, retiring, and liberal. I was wondering if there are any cities that have that vibe amongst the people?

Any core area in any big, diverse city. Even some of the smaller cities. Avoid most suburbs.

I agree, though would probably narrow that a bit more toward the major cities in the Northeast (NYC, Boston, DC, Philly and Baltimore) and would throw in cities like Chicago or Minneapolis as well.

Major college towns may work too. So, a place near you like Bloomington may work.

Any places that the OP requested, but not expensive and generally safe? I think I'm the OP's twin...
