Natchitoches is awesome, and it is the oldest continuing settlement on the Lousiana(?) Trace. St. Francisville is very interesting, too, and so is Gonzales! .

Isn't that where Steel Magnolias was filmed? It looked so charming in the movie.
To be honest, that doesn't look that much different from any number of smaller towns in the Southeast. I used to be a courier in Middle Tennessee and half the places I went were pretty similar to that, at least in appearance.
Yes and it is just as charming. Louisiana has STATE foods. You can find them all there. It has a lot of NOLA charm with the wrought iron balconies, etc. What is surprising is the park where Steel Magnolias filmed. It is not nearly as big as it looks in the movie. The only thing missing is "Wheezer" and the dog. There is no such festival as in the movie at Natchitoches.
If you have not been there it is worth the trip to drive from Shreverport to Baton Rouge and stop to visit. The LA bbq is awesome. I ate at a local joint and just wanted to live there, it was soooo good.

This isn't a thread about what is the south. That's just your opinion, to which you are entitled. Near Harper's Ferry is the Charles Town Confederate memorials. About 95% of Jefferson County's Civil War soldiers were Confederate.
