I went to Vermont in the spring for a short vacation. I spent a lot of time around and in Middlebury and I was wondering if there are any towns in the Southern US that look aesthetically similar. I am looking for a town that is forested, has a river/lake, and feels rustic. Here's a streetview of the area that sums up it's beauty for me: [url]https://www.google.com/maps/@44.0134575,-73.1685859,3a,75y,154.61h,84.49t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sy9gx3B-MnlAsuPLFZHs2Rg!2e0[\url]

Any towns in the southern US like that?

I think Eureka Springs, AK fits the bill:

When did Alaska become a southern state?

OH, you mean Arkansas. AR

So many people make that mistake! AK - ALASKA. AR - ARKANSAS.

But you're right about Eureka Springs - looks cute.

Oh crap, sorry...LOL. I do that sometimes.

But with some of the towns mentioned in this thread, I know they have their own beauty but most of them don't really seem to have that rustic quality.

Appalachia as well as the Ozarks and Ouachitas of Arkansas will be the closest to anything resembling New England.

Roanoke, VA
Blacksburg, VA
Bristol, VA/TN
Chattanooga, TN
Huntsville, AL
Hot Springs, AR

Eureka Springs, AR is the best suggestion in this thread so far.
