I have my doubts sometimes. There's really no way you can "prove" its northerness. Do you consider it to be a Northern or Southern state? Explain.

If Delaware is a Southern state than Pennsylvania must be Southern too. And so then is New Jersey.

PA is absolutely a Northern state. There should be no debate in states from PA and NJ north, and including PA and NJ. The debate starts with DE and MD.

Edit: Someone actually voted Southern?

I vote for Maine to join the South, personally.

I don't think this should be up for debate, kinda like Virginia or North Carolina (which are both southern, no doubt about it). Pennsylvania is absolutely northern, you'd have to be from northern Maine to consider it southern.

Yes. Obviously Northern. I actually paid attention in 8th grade Geography. How is this even debatable? Only on C-D.

He is just trolling because of the Maryland thread.

Why isn't Pennsylvania debatable?

As a border state, wouldn't PA more or less be in a "grey" area, leaning neither north or south, but instead towards a more neutral identity?

The National Park Service doesn't even include Pennsylvania in its definition of the "Northeast."

There's no iron clad evidence that Pennsylvania is a northeastern state. The sources vary on the question.
