New York is a mid atlantic state like Virginia, which is undoubtedly a southern state. I also once heard a person from New England that considered NYC as southern. What are your thoughts?

If you next start a thread called "Americans: Do you consider Nova Scotia a Northern or Southern State" i'm going to be very disappointed. The way these threads are going we are going to be debating the southern culture of the Yukon and Alaska.

..............No...........No I don't consider New York even remotely possibly a Southern state with an even less Southern Influence.

I can see the argument for it. Walk down Lewis Ave in Bed Stuy on a Sunday and you'll see what I mean.

Oh sure, why not? From all of my years of living in Washington DC I have the fondest memories of sitting on the front porch snapping beans barefoot whilst sipping some moonshine. Since DC has been deemed so Southern I cannot imagine NYC being too much different, right???
