Yes, and the fact that there is no dominant city in the area. The same goes for Dyersburg/Northwest TN area. Not having a dominant metro leaves the area without a strong cultural, economic, and political base to draw from.

One could say Austin and Fort Worth are competing to be the next 1,000,000-person city in Texas, although Austin will undoubtedly win that race...

Didn't know Fairfax co had a rivalry with Arlington co....makes since though...even though neither one of those are "cities."

Within the Phoenix area, there tends to be somewhat of a rivalry between the East Valley cities and the West Valley cities. Some people in the East Valley think the entire West Valley is ghetto, while some people in the West Valley think everyone in the East Valley are snobs.
