I'd like to live within driving distance of my parents, who live in Rock Hill, SC (8 hours away maximum). I'd need to be near a city (such as the size of Philadelphia), so no small-town rural areas. My husband and I both *love* the cold weather and snow.
We're in Philadelphia now, but we don't really love it here. Anyone have any recommendations of places where there's seasons and where it gets freezing cold in the winter - maybe there's some mountain cities that would be nice?
Anyways, I know nothing about cities other than where I've lived. Any recommendations?
You might want to try heading a few hours south. DC is a large city, not as large as the city of Philadelphia itself, but the metro area is comparable or larger depending on what stats you view, and you are 7 hours from Rock Hill. It still gets cold and it snows in winter, but not quite as cold as Philadelphia.
Pittsburgh, absolutely beautiful city. Lots of culture, universities, and really nice neighborhoods.
I highly recommend looking into it.
