Maybe you're new to Arizona but Arizonans, in general, consider Tucson to be more liberal than Phoenix.
Yes, the list is wrong including Tucson. With the U of A there, it is more liberal than any other part of AZ with the exception of Flagstaff and Sedona.

Again someone or something being liberal shouldn't automatically exclude it/them from being redneck. Some of my favorite liberal people are rednecks. However Tucson was probably added to this list because the OP has some stereotypical old west, Jan Brewer politics view of it. Unfortunately Guilty by AZ association, when in reality AZ cities are sterile sunbelt suburban paradises, there's nothing red neck about them.
Now the Arizona country folk, well that's a different story.....
Where did rednecks first come from? If it was not the south, then I see the point in this thread. otherwise, people should have known that rednecks migrate too.
Home grown red necks are every where. They don't have to migrate. Ignorance is everywhere also.
Some areas of the south are still southern, but not stereotypically southern. The Research Triangle of North Carolina is a good example. NASCAR isn't really part of our culture like Charlotte, we're all about college basketball (less stereotypically southern than NASCAR). This area is considered "New South" mainly due to RTP. Quite a few northeastern transplants have moved down to this area, making it less stereotypically southern. Even before all the transplants, this metro was still one of the more moderate areas of the state. No offense to some, but we (NC) didn't and still don't want to be a Mississippi or Alabama. Younger generations of the Triangle are losing the southern accent, mainly due to the children of NC natives mixing in with the children of northeastern and international transplants. In this case, they speak with more of an "east coast accent" with a hint of southern thrown in. We still say "y'all" around here, and I mean practically everyone. However, this accent is also found in areas like Richmond and Northern Virginia. Probably the same story with Charlotte, Atlanta, maybe even Charleston, SC! So in general, the Research Triangle is southern but it's also a little east coast at the same time if that makes sense.
Too bad some people don't know the difference between a redneck and a hillbilly.
Redneck = rural white person, usually of Anglo/British descent
Hillbilly = Scots-Irish from the Appalachians and Ozarks
Most Hillbillies are rednecks but not all rednecks are Hillbillies.
