wondering if anyone could think of any similar cities in the north east that would compare the most to Coeur D'Alene, ID?

Population, density, demographics, water, some mountains, forests, near a larger mid size city (spokane)

thoughts?

So a smallish white city by the lake and mountains? I'd say a lot of towns in PA and upstate NY would qualify.

Yeah, I was thinking Brattleboro VT ..... but it's not really that close to Albany, or Springfield (God forbid).

Maybe Pittsfield MA, but it doesn't really have the same vibe, and the mountains are hills other than Greylock. There aren't any mountains in the East that can compare with the West for height.

Glens Falls NY is probably the best bet in NY State. It is about an hour from Albany and is just within the Adirondack Park boundary. It may be a little bit more diverse than CDA in terms of having a Black population and perhaps in terms of other non White groups. It is a city of about 14,000 and metro of about 165,000.

Plattsburgh may be another city that could work, but again, it will be more diverse than CDA. It is across Lake Champlain from Burlington VT and roughly an hour or so south of Montreal. It is a city of 20,000 and in a micro area of about 82,000.
