If you want to be among predominantly white people, you instantly knock off all good southern cities.

Lubbock, maybe! 75% white.

That's not accurate. That statistic counts Hispanics as "white". Lubbock is actually only 55% Caucasian.

He's probably referring to white non-Hispanic.

Anyway, the Phoenix metro has a 58% white non-Hispanic population. ABQ is 41%. But Denver is 65% and SLC is 74%. Vegas is 46%, San Diego is 47% and Los Angeles is 31%. Tucson is 54%. Boise is 81%.

Bottom line, if you want to live around a larger European American population, go for Denver, Salt Lake City or Boise. Albuquerque, Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Diego and Los Angeles are very heavy Latin populations.

What is 61% white? The figures I was stating were white non-Hispanic. You're including Hispanics probably.

Although the tables are weirdly formed. So its little hard to understand.

It looks like that table is from the 2000 census. The 2010 census reports Caucasian population has decreased to 55%. But, being 4 years old, I doubt that statistic is still accurate either. Like most of Texas, Lubbock has a rapidly expanding Hispanic population. But we digress.....

Here, Latino IS a race, describing Latin Americans whose ancestry is from Europeans and Native Americans mixed, and sometimes Black thrown in there, depending on the country. The Spanish and Portuguese arrived in Latin America, raped and killed the Natives (resulting in "mestizos"), then brought in African slaves, further adding to the mixture in many Latin American and Caribbean nations.

Hispanic, however, is an ethnic group/culture, and can be Latinos, White people (from Spain, or who can trace their ancestry purely to Spain, like many Cubans), and people in Latin America who are purely Native American or Black but have grown up in a Spanish-speaking environment with certain cultural aspects of Spain that remain there from colonial times.
