Hi, I know there are high concentrations of Asian Americans in California, the big New England cities like New York and Boston, and of course Hawaii.
Where else are they in large numbers? As one of the smallest ethnic groups, I think anything over 10% of the metro area being Asian qualifies as "large numbers."
Asians of all types, including Indians, Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Filipinos, etc.
Ithaca NY comes to mind right away. I believe the metro is 10-11% Asian and the city is around 17% Asian. Lansing, a town and a village outside of Ithaca has a high Asian percentage too. This is largely attributed to the presence of Cornell University. With that said, the Asian percentage in Ithaca City Schools is around 13%. So, there are Asians that aren't students in the area.

Chapel Hill, NC is 12% Asian according to the census; but they seriously under-count the number of Asians here because most are graduate/medical students. Though many also have families. Asian children account for about 30% of the local school district's student population.
Nearby Morrisville, NC; a "suburb" of Raleigh that is really more of a commuter bedroom community of RTP....has one of the highest Indians as percentage of population in the country. There are elementary schools in Morrisville and nearby Cary where Indian students make up a plurality of the student population with over 40%.
Really; any college town in the US, especially with a major research university, is going to have a relatively high Asian population. If you are someone who thinks that Asians only congregate in immigrant enclaves in major cities in the BosWash corridor or on the West Coast; I guess you could count every college town outside of those regions as "non-obvious" places with high Asian populations.
Some communities in Louisiana have quite a few Asians.
