I have lots of dreams.

Ultimate of all ultimates would probably be on Lake Coeur d'Alene, in Idaho. Aside from that, pretty much anywhere in:

Spokane County, WA
Kootenai County, ID
Pend Oreille County, WA
Bonner County, ID
Stevens County, WA
Shoshone County, ID
Benewah County, ID
Latah County, ID
Mineral County, MT

would work. If I never had to leave that area without wanting to, I'd think I'd be pretty fine. I'm treating myself with a return to that^ area for my 35th birthday, which is tomorrow.

My other dream is to live in a paid for older house in Southern IL (pretty much anywhere along or south of I-64), preferably on a larger lot. The same (or splintered off) dream also includes the area along either side of the Ohio River anywhere from Cincinnati westward.

I wouldn't mind trolling the I-5 corridor for the rest of life either.

On the beach in Waialua or Haleiwa on the north shore of Oahu. I’m perfectly content with my house in San Diego if that never materializes.

My dream house would be located in the West somewhere in the desert where the desert and its mountain scenery is gorgeous and where the weather is perfect. My second choice of a dream house location would be the Pacific Northwest, because that's my second most favorite weather and I like the PNW scenery equally as the American desert scenery.

Remember, these are dream houses, and not reality. These locations not doable for me. It would be only be doable if jobs and job proximity were no object. AZ is not doable for me, because if I live in an area that is not too hot, I would be too far from the jobs and most of the jobs are in hot Phoenix and plus AZ has too many retirees. It's definitely not a state for me except for having the good weather locations and staring at beautiful desert scenery with gorgeous mountains. PNW is sort of doable, but you need to be really good to get a job out there, since there are big companies, I think I wouldn't have a dream house out there.

Western NC, at a high enough elevation to escape the oppressive summer heat. A creek flowing through the property would be nice too.

If talking just domestically, I'd want a main residence as a brownstone in the West Village or East Village in Manhattan, or a condo in the UWS with a view looking over Central Park and Midtown. Then I'd like a vacation home in a highrise in Miami Beach or a colonial-style place in San Juan, PR once the island rebuilds.

If we can consider international locations, I'd want a main residence as a rowhome in London or a flat in the Tribunal neighborhood area of Madrid. For vacation home I'd want a beach condo in Marbella or Tel Aviv.
