I'll make a map like this after I do Thanksgiving things, but sorting out the New England states are going to be the hardest part since that's six states.

Nevada - Utah - Colorado - Arizona - New Mexico

Idaho - Montana - Wyoming - North Dakota - South Dakota

That would be my vote based on the choices provided.

North Dakota and South Dakota do not identity primarily with the Intermountain West, which Montana and Wyoming are undebatable components of, along with Idaho, which categorically belongs to the PNW.

But I'm open-minded as to what criteria you and Davy have used to come to such a faulty conclusion. (And let me offer a premature guess: Because they all have prairies and voted for Mitt Romney in 2012?)

Nothing's going to be perfect because many groups are going to be larger/smaller than 5 states. The green states are grouped together because they all have unique geography and are otherwise difficult to place. There are no other states like them.
