I've been to Seattle and Portland. And I've asked the locals what is the local dish in the area. And all I found was a Salmon Burger and Salmon Chowder in Seattle, and nothing of notice in Portland. Is there any foods that are distinctively found in the Pac NW?

When I was in Tacoma/Seattle, teriyaki seemed to be the big local food--kind of like hot dogs to NYC...

Anything with Huckleberries in it. And mini-donuts.

I was just visiting Seattle last weekend. When going out to breakfast I made a point to find restaurants with smoked salmon eggs benedict. For dinner I had Dungeness crab mac and cheese. Not uncommon elsewhere, but I ate a lot more Thai food when I lived in Seattle as it seems a lot more popular there.

Yum that sounds so good right now.

More food you could add to your list:

Nanaimo bars
Dried cherries
Smoked fish
Asian-fusiony stuff like kimchi tacos

If you consider Idaho and Montana to be part of the PNW, you could add potato anything and venison chili.

Ah... I was just reminded of Rainier cherries in early summer. Yum! The PacNW has the best access to fresh and wonderful produce I've encountered anywhere.

The Seattle Dog, which is hot dog with cream cheese and grilled onions (other toppings as well). Awesome stuff. Been around for years, I could never get enough of it.
