Default If you could do something to your favorite city to make it even better, what would it be?

I love New York, but the weather sucks. I have always thought that if you picked up NYC and plopped it down where LA or San Diego is, no one would ever want to leave. If you moved it to LA, you would also have to clear a path through the mountains for the smog to be released. So what would you do to your favorite city to make it even better?

I would put pretty mountains around Austin but then it would probably cost as much as LA.

I'd probably restore some of the historic architecture and build in some nice infill and bring in an MLS team like St. Louis is supposed to have. That would certainly help.

I'd probably have to find something to do with that giant forest where Pruitt-Igoe used to be.

Beautify all the bayous. We are the Bayou City after all. Right now most are little more than concrete ditches.

For St. Louis, I would completely restore all the blight in North and East St. Louis. I would completely revitalize downtown, and I would make the Ozarks about 10,000 feet taller. I love the sight of snow-capped peaks at the end of the street.

Philly - i would "miami"-fy the waterfront. i'd add several 700-1000 foot towers and plenty of bars, shops & restaurants to compliment them along the delaware river................right now its an industrial garbage dump.

i still MAY happen

I can't move mountains or change the weather but what I can do to make my city better is:
Shop at small boutiques downtown or in certain neighborhoods to help those type of places survive. Eat at hip locally owned restaurants. Drink at nice bars. Go to music clubs. Go to street festivals. Buy art from local artists. Volunteer my time and effort. Plant flowers. Treat people with respect.

I would like to see the population grow 15+% in the next five years.

I'd do something about the winter, seriously.
