4) Seattle has never gone below 0F; even Florida has reached subzero temps!
You dont ever need to reach subzero temps to be considered cold in the winter. 20F is pretty darn cold. Seattle is colder and wetter than Sacramento/SF in the winter. We have never gone below 0F either. But we don't consider ourselves subtropical.
Alright, I'm with you on pretty much all of this, but what lush palms are you talking about? Been to Seattle quite a few times and have never seen a palm tree. Not one.
I live here, and definitely see palm trees- a fair number of people do plant them in their yards. There is one house in my neighborhood that must be people who used to live in California or somewhere else down south, because they have a whole row of palm trees along the front of their house.
Sure palms are not native here and they are not extremely common, but just driving around randomly I always see one or two places that has palm trees.
6) Seattle is only overcast 30% of the time during the summer, leaving many hours to enjoy the powerful tropical rays that make its lush palms flourish year round.
Sacramento is 1% overcast in the summer, yet we don’t consider ourselves subtropical. Seattle is nice in the Summer, but not subtropical.
Our Sacramento gardens are still producing melons, tomatos, and our citrus tress are full of tangerines and lemons. Banana trees in Seattle, No to the Yo.
