The OP said he was concerned about natural disasters in one of his posts. And he also said he looked at the temperatures and they didn't seem so bad.

Also, for 10 months out of the year is an awful exaggeration. Maybe for 4 at most is it really hot.

I had a couple similar threads. I realized I was over-threading, wishing I could delete some, it appears they merged them all into one. Interesting. (Option to delete threads would be nice)

As of right now I have my eye on Portland. Perhaps Eugene, but more so Portland. Also, I know someone there, so that is a plus.
New Orleans seems... idk, Crocodile/Alligators, whatever they are. On top of humid/more likely for disaster than most.
The real thing swaying me to Portland is the landscape though. It may be a little colder than I'd prefer, but it's got some pretty awesome land. I wouldn't mind throwing on a jacket for that. Plus, I actually like rainy days. (Perhaps this would change due to too much rain... but who knows)
Rainy day = Almost always better than a non rainy day.
Cloudy day = also good, though the temperature drop isn't as welcome.
So long as I'm fine with jacket weather all the time, I figure Portland is the place for me. It's so charming. And while I may not like the amount of homeless or the overly hipster vibe, I'm sure I could find somewhere in/near Portland that'd be just about perfect.
My other concern, as people have mentioned is job market. I realize it may not be the best. But from talking to people that have made the move, it seems like all you have to do is be persistent - and have some saved up for that just in case.
