Arkansas. I live 10 mins north of the Arkansas state line and northern Arkansas is still very southern. The only portion of the state that the southernness is diluted is far Nwa in the Fayetteville/Springdale/bentonville area. Still southern though even in those areas.

Arkansas..because its more rural, and until recently the traditional south was more associated with a more rural/agrarian lifestyle.

Arkansas still has a lot of poverty in rural areas and even in Little Rock. This documentary explains how some state laws keep Arkansas in a "Old South" rut.
