Is there a city that seems like a cross between LA & NYC? (home, neighborhoods)

Not for me it isn't. There is no obvious answer. I can't think of a single city in this country that even comes close to being a cross between L.A. and NYC.
Location: East Central Pennsylvania/ Chicago for 6yrs.

I'd say CHICAGO... Definitely .. but with its own vibe and feel too.
But aspects one could say of NYC and LA. Downtown Chicago has undergone a Manhattanizing of sorts last few decades. Lots of HIGH-RISE living. much very high end. As for LA unlike NYC, Chicago has no Tenement style housing and few Row home blocks. But as LA embraced Bungalow housing in much of the city on tree-lined, front lawn streets. Chicago did big time also,....having their own garages too.
Both LA and Chicago also have beaches....
Manhattan like⤵...this too ⤵ ... LA like ⤵ having beaches.. LA has bungalow⤵ housing stock too
Seriously JMT, all you had to do was just edit out the mention of the foreign city and just left "In this country, I don't know". Deleting my original short post in its full entirety really wasn't necessary to be honest You may try to edit or delete this post but Imma still get my complaint across as a poster.
Now then, I would say the closest city in this country to be like a fusion of New York and LA is most likely Chicago, especially when you look at the varied housing stock, history, beaches, neighborhoods, and street grid from the sky, especially at night.
I don't get the premise. In my eyes, both places share similar "cultural" DNA, but it's thinly disguised by regional mannerism. For instance, its like when Rudy Guiliani married somebody he found very hot but vaguely familiar, only to find out she was his cousin. Fourteen years later. That's NYC's relation to LA.
I would say DC. or more specifically, Montgomery County MD, just outside DC. Home to over a million people, and pretty urbanized towards DC. very latino and asian in areas. congested suburban/urban feel, like most of LA. yet has an east coast vibe, more like NYC than LA. a LOT of wealth here
New York City has beaches too, for what it's worth.
But I think a good argument has been made for Chicago, and I agree with the Denver suggestion, too.
