What state do you think has the most diverse geography/terrain? Other than California

Missouri is very diverse. Cornfields in the north. Ozark mountains in the southwest and south central. In the southeast it is in the delta. Swamps and cottonfields.

Texas comes to mind. Piney woods in east TX, gulf coast beaches, plains in north TX, and desert in west TX. Houston, Dallas, and El Paso look they could be in different states.

Also North Carolina. You have the coast, the Piedmont, and the Appalachian mountains.

Some Northeastern states, surprising given their size. NJ for example has pretty much everything but desert - mountains, hills, totally flat land, farmland, marshland, beaches/coastline (ocean and Delaware Bay), even a little bit of coastal highlands (Atlantic Highlands area), vast empty pine forest (Pine Barrens), etc. Massachusetts, New Hampshire.

They're probably not the most diverse but they're notable given their sizes.

New York is another one. I do think Texas wins it though. Mountains, desert, flat plain land, hill country, swamps, piney woods, coastal bend.

Oregon:

Beaches, to old growth forest, to river valley lowlands (Willamete), to Cascades, to high plains (front range), to desert from west to east. Very diverse and beautiful state!
