I think in Massachusetts it depends who you talk to.

Brockton, New Bedford, Lowell, Holyoke...and there are always more in the discussion.

You clearly have an agenda.

It would be Albany by far before Augusta.

Texas- Waco
Michigan- Flint
California - Bakersfield for SoCal; Stockton for NorCal
Minnesota- No city stands out, St. Cloud (politics out of step with the rest of the state, but such a tiny city it might not qualify) vs Duluth (Economy and weather)

Why such bad things for Waco? I haven't heard anything negative about Waco except for that wacko in Davidian Branch that cult. I would say maybe Beaumont,TX or El Paso maybe.

Twin Peaks biker gang shootout that happened back in 2015 which put somewhat more of a stigma on Waco. It's sad because a lot of the bikers were not from Waco but other Texas cities in which they all met at a particular restaurant that day. OTOH Waco's Fixer Upper has helped improved Waco image as well as their economy.

I know nothing about GA and the only thing I know about Augusta is the Masters so to an outsider I say it has a pretty good reputation.

In Washington, Tacoma is the punching bag, but now that Seattle is getting expensive, people are being kinder to Tacoma.

Bakersfield is not in Southern California, but I agree with your choices.

For Arizona, it would be Yuma, for Oregon it would be Roseburg, and for Washington it would be Yakima.
