I'm from Terre Haute, Indiana (which is an old declining factory town in it's own right) and I had always heard from several people from Terre Haute that Decatur IL was horrible. Then when I lived in Champaign for a while, people told me "it's not that bad." But man, everyone picks on Danville IL with a passion.

Off topic a bit, but I'm curious. I've met quite a few people visiting Louisville from Evansville. I know quite a few native Kentuckians who know someone living in Evansville or have some sorta connection. People from Evansville tend to fit in really well in Louisville. So would you say Evansville actually is more connected with Louisville in your opinion?

For Missouri, it's gotta be Springfield. *Maybe* Joplin and/or Branson too. That whole corner of the state is a little off.

Assuming he's talking about Gary, IN, why ask why? Seems pretty obvious on its face.

You make a good case. Aberdeen may be dire but at least the beach is nearby and there is scant cultural interest as the home of Kurt Cobain.

Longview has neither of these, and is near nothing. It manages to be both economically depressed and mind-numbingly boring.

I think we have a winner.

At least Yakompton has good Mexican food and that one burger place.
