What are the cities that people like to use as the state punching bag? The one that people hate to admit is part of their state?

For Washington its probably Yakima and Tacoma(although the perception of Tacoma seems to have improved).

Here in Iowa, I could name hundreds of small towns but as far as major cities go, I would say Sioux City.

It is an absolute craphole and it is right at the Nebraska-Iowa border. South Sioux City, NE is the sister city on the other side of the river

Lots of different choices in NY State, but of the ones that come to mind, many around here consider Yonkers the pits, Newburgh not far behind, and both Rochester and Buffalo as upstate contenders -- if they bother to think about upstate at all.

In fairness, of course, there are good areas in all these cities. But they do have bad reputations among many.

And in fairness, I should also add that there are people in New York State who see us here in the city as the epitome of corruption, vice, and a cesspool of sin that the world -- let alone the state -- would be better off without.

Waco or Beaumont. Beaumont might be deserving of that title but Waco isn't so bad.
