Are there a lot of people who go back in between both states a lot, or have family in both states?

I think the strongest connection Hawaii has to any state is California (Los Angeles).

For Alaska it would be Washington (Seattle.)

Alaska Airlines has non stop flights from Anchorage to Honolulu, that's a given. But also non stop to Maui and the Big Island. For a state with a population of less than 3/4 million, yeah there is certainly a connection. I know I'd have a big itch for a tropical island in the dead of winter up there.

Definitely! And they're the "Outland" states.

When I was traveling across Alaska I met someone who owned a business giving airplane tours of Denali National Park from May to October and then headed down to Hawaii to surf all winter (he made enough money over the summer to finance 7 months a year not working in Hawaii).
