What is in general better city for outdoor activities: Portland or Seattle? I am looking for mainly hiking and ATV activities. Which one of these two has closer proximity to these activities from the city? Which one is better in general?
Thanks for your comments and opinions.

Ray -

Well, it's a message board, not real time, so expecting a response within 27-min might be unrealistic. Perhaps you can search/post this in Seattle/Portland forums. I'm sure it's been brought up before.

I lived in Seattle but only visited Portland... so couldn't give a fair comparison.

Good luck.

I have visited both cities and both cities are among the best when it comes down to outdoors activities , but I would have to give the edge to Seattle because of all of the many Islands In The General Area..

I'm tempted to say Portland.

People in Seattle seem to be...busier.

Whereas people in Portland seem to be more relaxed and spend more time outdoors. Traffic is also lighter, making it easier to get out of the city.
