Oh yeah, I guess Wilmington beaches are only about 2+ hrs away - I was thinking Myrtle Beach. So Raleigh is closer to the beach, vs. Atlanta.

Raleigh just didn't seem as welcoming as Atlanta, and it seemed like there wasn't too much going on. But like I said, my experience was a while ago, and maybe things have changed for the better since then...

Closest beach to Atlanta is appx 4 hours. Certainly no day trip. Would comment on lakes, but, well, they're kind of dried up.
