*SEE the most Confederate Flags and "Dixie Pride."
I don't want to argue about what the Confederate Flag stands for, only curious about which areas of the South you see the most "southern pride." So basically, the Confederate Flags on the bumper stickers and front yards, the Dixie Outfitters T-shirts, basically anything along the lines of, "Proud to be Southern." Any specific areas come to mind? Like, "Wow, I'm noticing a ton of Confederate Flags in this city."
I don't see a ton of them in Birmingham, but I do see *tons* of American flags in a lot of neighborhoods. Then again it might be because there's very few transplants in Alabama, save Huntsville.
My guess would probably be Florida (especially the northern half). I'm sure there's a lot of natives that resent that their state's being taken over by transplants and are more likely to display the Stars and Bars as a statement.
Lived in Birmingham for many years, unless you go to the far out suburbs, basically the country, Confederate flags are rarely seen (even in the most redneck areas they aren't actually common). My guess stays with either North Florida, Jackson, or Montgomery.
Even Naples, FL or the whites in Homestead, FL are clearly southern to me. In cities like Miami, it can be hard to see with all the immigrants and transplants from the north. But to me the entire Florida is the south.
I'm here in Tampa right now for a conference, and it feels like the south hardcore to me.
