Affordability/Good economy: South/Southeast
Natural beauty: equal, all areas have their own natural beauty
Pleasant people: Midwest
Culture/Customs: Northeast
Weather/Utilities: depends upon preference, for me the South
Local music: depends upon genre, the South is surprisingly varied

Affordability/Good economy:

the Midwest is affordable, wages are relatively high, and everyone I know has a decent job. Unemployment numbers have been trending down here in recent years. Wages are probably higher on the coasts, but then so is the COL, by quite a large margin. The South seems to be adding jobs and industry, but wages are generally much lower there.

Natural beauty:

Like Kyle said, it's personal preference, everywhere has its own unique beauty

Pleasant people:

The South and the Midwest, we are actually quite similar in this regard.

Culture/Customs:

the South. I love traditional values and old fashioned customs, and would hate to see them washed out of the fabric of the South by transplants.

Weather/Utilities:

Somewhere with four distinct seasons but milder than the extremes, as in, much milder winter than the Northeast or Upper Midwest, but much milder summer than the Deep South or desert Southwest. Maybe Kentucky, Tennessee, or southern Utah/northern Arizona

Local music:

No idea, don't follow it.

I keep getting the feeling like many Midwestern cities are an open secret -- everybody knows about them, but yet nobody gives them a second's notice. I feel like I'm part of a contingency that is lucky enough to know the secret AND live here, but also am sort of waiting for the bubble to burst (others find out). Few places I've visited give me that same sense of feeling out of equilibrium.

Everywhere else in this country seems like it gets a fair rep, with the other notable exception being the South/Southeast. In most of America, the cost of living, quality of life, and wages make sense, except these two places. The perception of a cold winter or a hot/humid summer seem to turn a lot of people off. At least the South/Southeast is starting to reach closer to that equilibrium.

Northeast except for affordability. Pleasant people are plentiful, you just have to dig for the pleasantry :-)

Really, I can't dismiss any American region. each has its qualities fulfilling all the categories, so it is quite subjective.

Affordability:
The south and Midwest

Good economy:
The west

Natural beauty:
The west

Pleasant people:
The west

Culture/customs:
The west

Weather/utilities:
This to me is more specific to individual states. The states with the best weather IMO are : Florida, California, Washington, Oregon, Texas, Arizona

Local Music:
This again I think is state specific and depends on individual. So, myself I like rap so I have to say California.

Affordability/Good economy: The South
Natural beauty: The West
Pleasant people: The Midwest
Culture/Customs: The Northeast
Weather/Utilities: The Southwest
Local music: I love me some Native American sound tracks

why?

Because the south is cheap

The West is beautiful

The Midwest people hold the door open for you

The Northeast and all their damn traditions

The southwest and its warmth with out the humidity

Have you ever been to a national park and hear the beautiful sounds and songs of the native americans? Magical
