I would just like to point out that it is extremely stupid to pigeon hole stereotype people in general. Especially whole cities and states.. I am pretty sure liberals and conservatives both bring valid ideas to the table and its all about finding that happy balance that drives the country in the right direction. Being one extreme or the other does not.
Moderation!!!! If only we had a political party that reflected that view
This is not the topic of the thread. I don't know how it went from me being concerned about propaganda in CA schools to you bashing conservatives.
For the record, I'm probably more left leaning than 90% of the board (e.g., I often vote third party because I don't think the Democrats are left wing at all), but I'm not bashing you. The traits that predispose someone to being conservative can be very advantageous in many situations - they must be, or else they would have been winnowed out of the human gene pool. Diversity of opinions is part of what makes the human race great.
They're called Republicans, just not the Tea Party wing. The Dems are essentially quasi-socialist in their goals at this time.
Yes, yes, and yes. I hate the fact that someone like McCain, Original Romney or even Jeb Bush can't get elected because the TP is too extreme. That's why I'm Independent.
Pertaining to the thread, that's why I like TX, NY and VA. Weird mix, I know.
Edit: I know disadvantaged kids who used to hang out at the Romney house in Belmont, so believe me when I tell you the man made a 180 once he got the nomination.

I think the media simplifies things with the whole Red State Blue State thing. The reality is most cities are Blue and most rural areas are Red. Blue states have enough urban population to swing the whole state Blue, while Red States have a larger share of rural population. What local place you live - to the neighborhood level - is a bigger deal.
I think it's fine for people to move to places that match their values. Humans have been doing that for thousands of years.

Not necessarily true. In MA even the country is blue and in AZ the biggest city is in a red county.
It's not about Red or Blue, I wouldn't mind moving to a blue state like MI where there isn't crazy lack of traditional values, and I would hate living in a red state like GA because of the population composition.
I'm not debating with you, it's just not something that I want my child to grow up thinking that it is okay. If someone else wants to do it that's fine, but you don't smoke medication IMO. I will respect medical THC when people don't smoke it, they take a pill which exists.
Regardless, he is my kid and I don't want him to have conflicting views. Marijuana is a federally scheduled drug. It gets you high. I've smoked pot before. I don't want my kid to think it's something laudable to do. If you want to do it fine, but I don't want my kid thinking it's an acceptable thing to do. When pot becomes legal federally then we can talk but it's illegal, regardless.
Also, I'm not a libertarian either. I'm a social conservative who believes in mixed economics.
Again, I recommend the state of your grandparents (OK) or another deep red southern state. They align much more with the "social conservative" culture as opposed to libertarian.

I don't need to state to agree with me on everything, I just don't still want my children exposed to drugs or indoctrinated in public school
That's really interesting, because my parents were right-wingers and my siblings turned out liberals and I turned out to be a fiscal centrist and social libertarian.
Do have any links for this?
Ron Reagan Jr and his sister are very liberal. Look at their father lol. That must rip social conservatives that Ron Jr is an atheist.
Yes, i can tolerate living with people with different beliefs/values than mine.
