Let's start a list of things that people on City-Data talk about that in the real world, really seems kind of silly to consider when choosing a place. Let me start:

Skylines.
Density.

One city is jealous of another.
People are automatically "cool" if they live in a certain city.
Obsession with where rich people live.

Maybe not all of these when choosing a place to live, but posters in general.

Before skyline threads were banned, skylines used to be pretty much all CD used to talk about all the time.

I can't think of anything more inane than skylines. Even density could tangentially affect your quality of life, depending on whether or not you want to be in a congested or uncongested area.

Skylines though....really?

Don't forget 'walkability'.

IRL people are concerned about jobs, schools, public safety, and infrastructure like roads...

I would say population. Most people have absolutely no idea what the population of their city, their overall metro and especially the ranking of cities.

The spiritual death of not living in a densely urban environment. That's a cultural trope actually but it needs to take a fatal pratfall on a billion rolled eyes.:roll eyes:...
