Likewise, this is Green Street, lined with Victorian mansions: https://goo.gl/maps/wZiF0
And this is one block away: https://goo.gl/maps/sW5N1
Also, if you go up the hill on East Fayette, you run into a mostly Black, but diverse, working to solidly middle class neighborhood. This is the area I'm referring to and this part of that neighborhood is solidly middle class:

Check out alter road area in Detroit. It is the outer most road in the city before the suburb of Grosse Point. Literally you will see abandoned ghetto Detroit on one side and beautiful suburban homes (one of the richest suburbs of Detroit) on the other. This is the most extreme out of anything i have ever seen in my life.

Thats Detroit for ya. LA has the same thing with Hollywood in LA proper total dump and Beverly Hills minutes away. I used to live in Northern Ohio, Detroit is an extreme city you have billionaires living in Bloomfield Hills who won't set foot in Detroit scared out their mind of inner city black people. Detroit metro is a strange place. I do agree with you on Grosse Point being so close to Detroit proper its pretty crazy.

Haha that is dead on. I grew up there in the burbs and you wouldn't believe the amount of fear that some people (mainly middle aged white women) have for the city. Hell my own mom was one of them! My dad grew up in the city so he naturally wasn't as scared, just ashamed of what had happened. I would love to see it turn around but truth is they need middle class people to move into neighborhoods by the freaking cruise ship load which just isnt happening.

The Central West End (wealthiest neighborhood in St. Louis) borders the West End and is close to Wellston, both of which are epicenters of the poverty in North St. Louis. You can go from million-dollar mansions to bombed-out hulks in one block or less.

Only a railroad separates two Cincinnati suburbs - Wyoming (med income $150k) and Lockland (median income $30 k). It feels like going from San Diego to Tijuana in one block

I was in Cincinnati last week and I agree but Lockland is mostly lower to middle class poor whites and its not dangerous and Wyoming has a lot of wealthy minorities like Jews, Blacks and Asians. It is odd but Lockland is not a bad part of Cincinnati its just blue collar.

Baltimore has some pretty extreme wealth gaps between adjacent neighborhoods too.

Rapidly-gentrifying and hip Charles Village is pretty mixed in terms of age, race, and income: https://goo.gl/maps/hRltbAnd, but walk a half mile, and you're in rough and tough East Baltimore: https://goo.gl/maps/yGiZr

Here's a screen shot of a rough part of the Westside of town: https://goo.gl/maps/fvnYN, which is less than a half mile from this upper-middleclass suburban neighborhood: https://goo.gl/maps/agSUw

One of the most violent cities (pound for pound) in America. Martial law has been declared here because the violence got so out of control at one point.

Like someone mentioned earlier, the border between Grosse Pointe Park and Detroit at Alter rd. is absolutely insane. Take a look, https://www.google.com/maps/@42.3801.../data=!3m1!1e3, urban prairie directly bordering nice suburban homes. Probably the most extreme you will see in this thread.
