I agree, the South has way better race relations than anywhere else. I've been to NYC and lived in LA and both areas sort of segregate themselves into certain areas but in the south, pretty everyone lives amongst everyone.

The supposed "progressive" attitude of the north may be coming back to bite them in the butt. These liberal whites who viewed minorities more as charity cases ended up fostering an underclass of (mostly non-white) minorities and a subset of privileged whites. As a result, metros like Boston, DC, Chicago, and even NYC are experiencing some pretty bad racial tension in the irony of it all. This has already happened in European countries like France, Germany, and Sweden where the indigenous Europeans now despise the Middle Easterns and Africans that were welcomed in on some kind of charity case.

Not saying the southeast is now all the sudden this beacon of peaceful race relations because it isn't. But I definitely don't think the north is really all that better for the advancement of black Americans.
"Progressive" white people desire racial and ethnic diversity as little more than a decorative backdrop for the cities they live in. It's totally superficial.

That's absolutely part of the equation here.

I'm not at all sure why we should concern ourselves so much with their race, after all, isn't that technically racist? Aren't they all just people anyway?

Granted DC was always a POS segregated town, but Northern VA and MoCo were fine and integrated and racially cordial during the 90s and early 00s when it was mostly natives, immigrants, and transplants from the Western US.
Not what I've noticed but okay.
