How many do you think were frumpy tourists? I'd be willing to bet a lot. Manhattan is so saturated with tourists, in many spots it's hard to find a native or resident.

Yep, tourist saturation part is definitely I agree with; however, for the most part you know it when you work and/or live in Manhattan.

Sure but the average tourist - like the poster I quoted - probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a tourist and a resident.
