If you're one of THOSE East Coasters, you might as well stay put in Boston.

You will never, ever be fully content away from your family, childhood friends, and the culture in which you've grown up. I can guarantee that if you move away from them, you will most certainly move back. It may not be for 5, 10, or maybe even 20 years, but you'll eventually move back someday.

People who *want* to be near their families shouldn't be moving in the first place.

Not to mention your anti-California rhetoric sounds like something I'd hear on conservative talk radio or in Florida, Georgia, or North Carolina from New England transplants who simply can't afford an analogous lifestyle in California, hence Florida, Georgia, or North Carolina.

I've always like Charleston, SC. Good economy, medium sized city vibe, a lot of history, old money, Southern charm.

Tampa would be my next bet. I spent about a week down there in January and absolutely loved it. One of the top 3 places I've been.
