What are some of the best coastal cities (within 45 mins to beach max) to live for a single, professional guy? 27 years.
Currently in Boston.

Excluding west coast (sorry!)
Thanks

Eh, that limits your options. If you want swimmable beaches and stuff, that'll take you south of the Mason-Dixon. The Hampton Roads area of VA has a TON of beaches, but it's better for families than single guys.

Miami/Ft Lauderdale or for a good bit less pretentious vibe, Tampa/St Petersburg.

What are some of important things for you which a city should have or shouldn't have, you have to get more into detail (:

Without more specifics, I'd say hands down Miami/FLL or Tampa /St Pete. Houston and new orleans are an hour from the beach and they aren't that nice anyway. Really no other options in the same league.

So you mean to tell me, you'd rather live in Charleston, Tampa, Miami, Houston, or New Orleans before living in, say, Los Angeles or San Diego?

Lol, ok.

Miami, New York, or DC.

If you are open to the west coast you might like Las Vegas.

I can't RESIST.... well since you did not exclude the Midwest or Great Lakes . Chicago is a Beach city for a few months out of the year. It has Beaches right Downtown and along its 26 miles of shoreline. Especially north of Downtown. It also has had its Downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. Skyrocket with Young Urban Professionals. Of Course I realize you want a Beach city with much less winter.
But one of my favorite pictures here. Show some of Chicago's shoreline in this picture a few years old.

Lol, ok.
Yes.
Californias on the other side of the map from my family.
The areas where I'd want to live are way too over populated for my taste.
...Also the radiation coming from Japan and other environmental factors like pollution, lack of water, (again) too much congestion, etc really don't appeal to me.

I'd love to visit but I'd never see myself settling down there.
