Fort Lauderdale at least has some nightlife. As a younger person, I'd hate living in a sleepy area.

Good point. I rode with a co-worker out of Denver to get there, not a very long ride. I went to Cheyenne once. I thought it was a surprisingly cute little (well, medium sized) town. Fort Lauderdale isn't very cute at all and has just about no historic buildings. Cheyenne was very clean, Fort Lauderdale is a mix of clean and dirty, and there is sleaze all over the place. I also bet the crime rate is way lower in Cheyenne. Otherwise I can't really speak for Cheyenne, I was only there for a couple of days.

Wandering Mind, I'm with ya! Attended high school in nearby Hollywood, FL and I really didn't find the Hollywood/Ft Lauderdale area all that exciting. I found many of the people in FL had "teflon" personalities and cared more about how much money you had, what kind of car you drove and what kind of job you had than what you were really about. Just my observation, anyway.

I had the same experience in getting to Cheyenne. I flew to that major hub Denver and rented a car for the drive north. But I think Ft. Collins, a college town, is along the way. It had a real nice downtown and a lot of attractions for young singles.

I lived in Ft. Lauderdale and did not like it! I think Cheyenne should be better; however, I have never been there! If you are a young person and no kids then it may be ok...but it is expensive!

It is along the way, but I didn't stop there. Cheyenne really isn't all that far from (major) civilization, but I prefer the green landscape in Ft. Lauderdale to the brown landscape in Cheyenne, just my opinion. I also agree that FTL is expensive and better for a younger person. I think "Better" is a matter of personal situation and opinion. I live in FTL, like it, but I liked Cheyenne for a week too. I made this poll because of all of the other ridiculous polls, and because the two places could NOT be more different.

Tough one. I've lived in close proximity to both. The wind breaks the tie. It never seems to stop in Cheyenne. It'll drive you insane.

I've been to both. Overall I guess i'd pick fort lauderdale because its more exciting, beautiful beaches and palm trees, lots to do and such. But cheyenne is very comfortable, beautiful natural scenery, and pretty nice locals. More of an old cowboy town than just about anywhere i can think of, which I like.

For me, Cheyenne hands down. Not even close. When I think of Florida I think terrible heat and humidity. I despise both. Cheyenne - wide open spaces and less crime and congestion.
