NYC-Empire state building, Statue of Liberty, and formerly the twin towers.
Chicago- Sears Tower
San Fran- The Golden gate bridge, and the Trans America pyramid thing
LA-Hollywood
Miami-Bikinis LOL
Detroit- Ford
Seattle- The Pointy skyscraper
San Antonio- The Alamo
DC- The Capitol (best), white house, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and Jefferson memorial.
St. Louis- Arch
New Orleans- Disaster (:P) and French Quarter
Dallas-Reunion Tower, BOA, and Fountain Palace (the cool looking diamond shaped skyscraper...it has always been my favorite)
Minneapolis- The bridge... heh...
Atlanta- CNN (no one said it has to be a physical structure  )
Houston- the cool bathroom made of one way glass... HAHAHA

But that isn't what MOST people think of when they imagine New York. Perhaps for many of the people who live there, but there are hundreds of millions of people throughout this world who couldn't indentify the Yankees Stadium from any other stadium (and they mostly likely could care less that they don't know the difference).

Well, that's good for them. Yankee Stadium, TO ME, represents this city along with Madison Square Garden.

Once again not everyone in NYC follows baseball
If you are going to use that analogy Sports are a way of "life" in every large city in the U.S then.
Hollywood sign represents Los Angeles.
Sears tower represents Chicago...maybe?
