Hmmm, yes, i ran it again and realized that I had messed up the date range. 36 from 1/14 until 4/15. Six seems like a much more reasonable number! I feel safer all of a sudden

I saw elsewhere that Portland was at 12 or 13 for the year. I think the 6 above was just for February and March, nothing yet reported for April or May per that site.

I don't have the number for this time last year, but the last I had heard the city was essentially progressing at the same rate as last year, which isn't good. Also keep in mind that this is for a city that has a population of 317,419 as of the 2014 estimates.
Total, the city had 159 murders in 2014, 120 in 2014, 113 in 2013, and 115 in 2012. Its rate has been seesawing for awhile now, but I was hoping it would come down this year. So far that has not been the case. St. Louis' rate also beat Detroit's last year.

Their are way more than 2 LA's several in Latin america and one in the Philippines I believe the city of Angels is probably a common name, as that sounds as a great name for a city.

I sure hope they're up to date. I check them every morning, to see if it is safe to go out in the streets.
I hope everyone understands that these are only the numbers of incidents that are recognized as homicides and investigated as such by the police. Missing from the data are an unknowable and unguessable number of deaths that are actual homicides, but are (due to lack of conspicuous evidence) wrongly classified as accidents, suicides, natural causes, misadventures, or just missing persons. The number of those could be as high or higher than the number of statistical homicides, who knows?
Haha, I just saw that and was like "wtf?". I put them up there and then edited it to go from lowest to highest of the group (totally random group). I must have messed up when I moved LA and St Louis around.
St Louis is the 20.0, LA is 2.4
