Intresting, Boston Black culture does get overshadowed quite a bit. I know New Edition was from Boston but I didn't know Donna Summers was from there. I guess you can Boston is the black mecca of New England.

This is a collection of MA rap artists, I excluded RI because I'm not as familiar with them, although I do know they have some fairly popular artists. These are individuals who sell out shows throughout Southern New England, and get late night airplay in Boston. The views here range from 5k to 12 Million. With an average of about 200k views. A few of these artists are signed to major deals at Atlantic, RCA and Fools Gold, one has a song with Lil baby. They represent a more normal picture of what its like growing up in MAs urban areas as a person of color. All of these kids were born in the 1990s. MJ, FOAM, Cthank I would really recommend you watch a little bit of each artist to get a better understanding of what's going on in MA.
I would say so as well due to having the biggest population in the region(170-190,000 people in the city, depending on who you include).
Hartford, New Haven and Bridgeport in CT have higher percentages though(in the 30's for each).
There are some suburbs and satellite cities in these areas with higher or similar percentages as well like Randolph and Brockton in MA; Bloomfield, Windsor, East Hartford and West Haven in CT.
Please let's lot forget Springfield MA 21% BLACK (31K black people) and Worcester MA(13% BLACK, 25K People)
Also black small populations of Rhode Island in Newport, Woonsocket and the 'larger' populations in Providence Central Falls and Pawtucket. I think Pawtucket and Central Falls are 'blacker' than Providence. About 20% each versus 14% in Prov. Rhode Island is the most Cape Verdean Dominican and Liberian of the three states tho. Urban Rhode Island is more accepting of black culture I think, or minority culture in general, than the Boston Area tho. Most people agree.

They were in that old NBA Live soundtrack, Akrobatik went to my high school before ibattended. He used to DJ for the local hip hop station. The last hurrah for them 2003-2007 was way before this current wave, I wish they would stay more connected to the current generation though. Their presence would add richness continuity and stability to the scene.

Boston does have a relatively strong black history that goes back centuries(Beacon Hill, 54th Regiment, Crispus Attucks, etc). It is just overshadowed by other images of the city.

Adidas is bleeped out because it was a major gang reference in Boston.
Bostons is all about threes
Roxbury Dorchester and Mattapan.
Each stripe of adidas represents one of the hoods.
When you out your index and thumb together to make n 'o' you're holding up three fingers.
Those three fingers make a three lower case "b'.
Also in the Boston Red Sox hat, there is a 'B' shape in the upper and bottom space that make a 'B
B' so to some, there are 3Bs on the hat.
You can find song like "Throw my Threes" there's is a 'Threez' clothing line. There ais even a picture of the former mayor Meninot hrowing his threes.
Back in the day Adidas trees dotted the city, places where unprotected kids or rival would get jacked and their sneakers were thrown high into trees.
The most infamous adidas tree was in Grove Hall, the Interval Posse (the IVP) had electricity, and other amenities coming in from homes that had been forfeited to the hand. They were watching TV in the park and such. They had youth recruitment on lock and a tree with branches ready to break from the weight of sneakers. The dude if a building was a giant adidas symbol. Thet were dismantled by the FBI in 1997.
There is only one adidas tree left in the city in The Four Corners neighborhood, Benzinos neighborhood- untouched by gentrification still.
Benzino and the RSO (Real Strong Organizatiin/Rock **** ON organization/Roxbury Street Opertation) were the first to wear adidas on a Boston album cover. RSO fell under the Columbia point Dawgs. Columbia point Dawgs were the largest gang in the city for thirty years and we're all about adidas. The most popular adidas shoe in Boston is the Adidas Top Ten.
At the time of this song about 100 homicides. Year were occurring in Roxbury Dorchester and Mattapan ALONE per year and over a third of victims were under 21. Adidas was too controversial.
