Seeking to move to a city that is in the process of taking their downtown and rebuilding and upgrading it. Yes, I know Pittsburgh is one, but there are others out there. Can anyone suggest a city like this for me to move to?????

St. Louis is rebuilding and renovating all over the city. Just in the last 5 or so years a lot of buildings downtown are being reused, most of the buildings are old beautiful buildings, the kind they don't build anymore.

Urban St. Louis - Index

Downtown St. Louis Lofts, Saint Louis (This site is a bit outdated. The Switzer building was severely damaged in a 2007 storm and was lost).

Reno, they have completely revitalized their downtown in the past few years, and are continuing to do so.

Baltimore has been revitalizing their downtown since the 80s and are still doing it

May I ask why as this seems like an odd request. Do you want to get in on some of the development? Do you hope that rebuilding will push out the scum?

Detroit is one that comes to mind.

Minneapolis is another.

I am looking to move to a downtown that is new and happening is all. But I want a city that is growing, too.
Pittsburgh and Detroit are rebuilding, but there is NO growth in those areas.

I would second Baltimore. It actually may have a slight increase in population in the next census and the areas around downtown are great also.

Minneapolis is nice in that it is not only quickly revitalizing downtown but also has growth in the urban neighborhoods. Downtown has thousands of housing units, a new Pelli library, two theaters, a Music center, cultural attractions, riverfront, parks, et cetera. It was the worst part of the city in that there was little to do there when the city hit its slump. The change has been amazing. The new Twins Stadium is bridging an industrial gap between the CBD and Warehouse District. The Mill District was built basically from scratch. Nicollet is great as ever. But the city neighborhoods are getting almost as much attention. Many new units in Northeast and Uptown. Revitalizing slums, et cetera. These neighborhoods never even got that bad, but now they are vibrant, safe and growing. It isn't limited to Downtown, this whole city is getting better by the month. The best part is that it is still pretty cheap.
