Where did you feel warmly welcomed and experienced the friendliest people? Could be a city, state, foreign country.

My small town here in southern Michigan. We've been here for 5 1/2 years now, and people could not be nicer!

Here are my top friendly places. Though, I've never been to the Deep South, and I hear the folks there are friendly.

Generally, I've found Canadians to be the friendliest people in the world. I've found city people to be friendlier than country people. I've found Easterners (both in the North, South, and Midwest) to be friendlier than Westerners. I've also found black Americans to be friendlier than white Americans.

Winnipeg, Manitoba
London, Ontario
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Indianapolis, Indiana
Rural parts of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Iowa
Urban African-American communities
Toronto, Ontario
Mexico City
New York City
The Mid-Atlantic Region in general

I agree, having spent a few summer vacations in Saugatuck-Douglas.

Flagstaff, Arizona. Total strangers were friendly. Stayed there on my visit to the Grand Canyon.

Colorado. When I go to climb mountains there, there are complete strangers that are always cool with meeting up in a group and having an adventure accomplishing something such as a climb. However, I tend to find where I am most happy, is where I found the most happy people- probably because it rubs off on others and they can not be in a fowl mood around me when I am in such a great mood.

I agree Easterners, Canadians and blacks are more outgoing and less guarded/self-righteous on average for sure.
