Galena, IL, population 3,429.

The town is the same today as it was 100 years ago, the most perfectly preserved example of America's past culture I've ever seen.

Tecumseh, Michigan is another quaint town in Michigan and it's pretty sweet, although not as quaint as Mackinac Island. Michigan is full of quaint, well kept, little towns.

Pocatello is quite interesting. It once was a large railroad center, and you can still see the wide swath of tracks near old downtown. Passenger service has long vanished, but the old downtown area still looks much like it did around the turn of the century. A very historic area, and worth spending a day walking.

New Hope, PA and Carmel, CA. They both get extra points for being near other nice towns.
